While reorganizing backups and older travel hard disks I was reminded of a 2016 trip to Dakhla. Together with several friends I and my now wife went windsurfing there for a week.
Dakhla is located on the edge of the desert and ocean. A combination that delivers constant wind throughout most of the year.
I tracked most sessions with a GPS capable watch and used a head mounted GoPro to capture footage. The above video combines video a speed run with the actual real time speed at the time. Flat water made it possible to reach speeds of over 27 knots, over 50 km/h. (That’s > 30 mph for my American friends).
